Douglas County commissioners have unanimously approved an event permit for the Trump campaign to host a rally at the Minden-Tahoe Airport. According to the permit filed, the rally is scheduled to take place some time between November 2 and November 4 ranging from 7 a.m. to 11:59 p.m.

The permit, which passed 5-0, comes with several conditions. The Trump campaign must submit all additional information requested by the county by October 22. This includes details on emergency medical services, public assembly areas, sanitation, and shuttles. Additionally, payment in full of all costs charged by the county is required by October 24.

Additionally, the county manager retains the authority to deny the application at any time if conditions are not met or if there are public safety concerns.

While the permit approval does not guarantee that the rally will occur, it allows the event to proceed if the campaign complies with the stipulated conditions. The Minden-Tahoe Airport has previously hosted events for the former president.

Public opinion on the permit approval was divided. Many commenters supported the decision, citing economic benefits for local businesses such as food vendors, gas stations, and hotels. However, some residents expressed concerns over public safety, referencing the highly-contested nature of the presidential race and past incidents involving the former president, including two assassination attempts and unpaid bills for venue use.
